Need help
Hi I really need some advice. 3 years ago my parents found themselves in extreme debt that finally caught up with them (£90000). I had no idea about this debt but regrettably now, at the time offered to get a mortgage on their house to pay of the debt (they owned the house). At the time we could afford the extra mortgage…

Remortgage valuation; what are they looking for?
Hi all! We're coming to the end of our 3 year fix and are looking to remortgage with the same lender. As the house was a repossession, the valuation they have on their system is somewhat less than we think it is worth due to the overhaul on the property in the last 3 years (new kitchen, bathroom, central heating, total…

Mortgage x salary irresponsible!
I'm shocked to read on some threads that some lenders are offering up to 5.5 x salary. If you earn say £200k I can understand but for someone earning £20-30k if the interest rates rose slightly you'd be screwed. Also on a lower wage, if such a high proportion of salary is paying mortgage how do they expect to cope when…

Agreement in principle
We have an AIP with Woolwich. I realise that this is not a guarantee of a mortgage but provided the information we provided stacks up, is a mortgage offer a dead cert? We're hoping to offer on a property we found shortly and I just wanted to be aware of any potential pitfalls with the mortgage. Thanks for your help!

re-mortgaging trouble / self-employment
Hello, sorry for the long post - but trying to give you the details over time. I'd love to hear peoples' thoughts on this and whether someone successfully re-mortgaged recently with a self-employment factor. We took a mortgage out in 2008 on a five year fixed. I earned more then (as pre first child, 37hrs) and was on a…

Could my mortgage offer have been cancelled?
It started from the nightmare solicitor--I got the BTL mortgage approved by a bank and used a panel solicitor of theirs. As I was also selling my investment flat to my brother in law, i simply instructed the same solicitor despite the fact its not related to my purchase or the same bank at all. The sales is very…

What mortgage do I need to part buy inherited property?
If I want to buy one of my siblings out in their share of an inherited house which was left to us, what type of mortgage do I need if I don't plan on living in it but another sibling does? I've looked at BTL mortgages, would this be necessary if my sibling is not going to pay rent as he also owns a share? Are BTL mortgages…

Dilemma whether to sell.... Or not!
I am in a financial dilemma and would appreciate some sound advice! My current situation is that I own a one bedroom flat which I currently rent out for £625 per month but ideally I would love to sell it and take the equity to reinvest in another property. When I purchased it with my ex husband we paid £90000 and put…
