I completed on a remortgage last week, however as i made a payment to the old lender the day before completion and the amount borrowed was slightly more than the redemption amount, i estimate i am owed about £600 (even after calculating and deducting last months interest) any idea how long it is likely to take to get this refund?

Back when I worked there, (I left 4 years ago) it was the aim to get refunds of overpayments done within a week, but I don't know what their current targets are on this. It used to be a refund by cheque, but they may have gone hi-tech by now and do it by faster payment!Early retired - 18th December 2014

The solicitor will have completed based on the redemption figure supplied by the lender.
You will therefore receive a full refund of the payment made late, as it should not have been paid. You should have been advised to cancel the direct debit a few days before completion to avoid this.

Thanks, i will wait until mid week and give them a call, my solicitor told me not to cancel any DD as it could delay things.0
