Intelligent Finance Mortgage
We have a variable tracker mortgage (1%!!!) with intelligent finance. We still have around £90,000 on the mortgage. We could be mortgage-free as we do have around £90,000 in savings - between ISA's, Santander 123 and Flexdirect accounts, but while they are getting interest rates of 3-5% then it would be silly to pay off…

simple or compound interest?
My mortgage rate is quoted as 5.49% fixed since 2004. My original mortgage goes back to 1986 when rates were higher, and I started at 11% reduced by some tax scheme called MIRAS to 7.8%. Lately I've notice that this annual rate is used to find a monthly rate and they add this monthly to my balance. After I asked they have…

Been turned down..
By my bank despite having an 841 credit rating with no debt, CCJs etc. Only looking for a 2x mortgage, the missus reckons they won't approve small mortgages because they won't make as much money. Is there any truth to this? Who would be best to approach for a £60-70k mortgage?

a way round buy to let?
is it possible to just get residential mortgages on 2 year deals, and immediately obtain consent to let for 2 years? after the 2 year deal, re-mortgage on another 2 year deal and do the same again? this means you wouldn't need a buy to let mortgage, and anybody could do it without having to have their own residential…

Ending a mortgage
Hi, I am looking to potentially move out of my flat (shared ownership 30%) and rent somewhere else. I am just looking at what penalties there would be for ending the mortgage early, within a fixed term, to see if it is possible. One query is to do with an overpayment I made on it last year. It's possibly a silly question,…

Questions a mortgage lender does not want us to ask
So far talking to different mortgage lenders I learned about the following disadvantages: 1. Some will not allow to have a loan secured against the property from lender other than them. So they become a lending monopoly or I have to leave them which will cost a lot. 2. Many lenders will not let me to rent the property out…

Remortgaging and equity release
I am due to do remortgage and I found it incredibly difficult to find an interest-only deal. OK, I have to have repayment mortgage but I want everything I paid over two years back when I remortgage, leaving exactly 25% and not a penny more. But this seems to be difficult too. When I say to mortgage lenders that I need to…
