I have just had a company on the phone saying I can claim mis-sold endowment on my mortgage. I thought the claims had stopped for this

And why do you / they think it was mis-sold?0

Well as the company have not seen your point of sale file, nor have any info about the sale - they can't possibly know if your policy has been mis-sold - and even if it were you don't need their assistance to claim (whom despite claiming to be on your side, will take a good cut of any compensation you may be entitled to).
Nevertheless, you will have been aware of your shortfall to target, for I would wager, at least the last 3 yrs, and more probably nearer the 13 yr or so mark (when the revised estimated maturity values started being issued by firms) - in any event, if this is the case you will be most certainly timebarred from making a complaint.
Furthermore, you may not be compensated for loss of expectation (ie poor performance, failure to meet estimated maturity values), only if the policy was unsuitable OR it its terms were mis-represented.
To bottom this out for you, firstly have you have recd any red letter(s) from your provider ? If so, when did you receive the first shortfall warning ?
Depending upon the answer to the above qs, more info re the sale itself may be reqd to help further.
Hope to help
