What to expect from a Morgage Broker
FTB here and besides a Mortgage broker applying for the mortgage on your behalf and checking all the paperwork, what else do they do? I have 2 brokers, both recommended to me. One charges (he is a friends relative), the other Mortgage who I have never met but it pleasant to deal with doesn't charge customers. Have no idea…

Problem remortgaging because income a lot lower
When my husband and I took out our current mortgage, our income was considerably higher due to doing up a few properties, via my husbands business, and maintenance from an ex-partner which we no longer receive. Our fixed rate mortgage ended some time ago and we are currently on a variable rate which has seen several…

Buy to Let for my parents? - novice needs advice!
I am thinking about helping my parents buy a property as they need more appropriate accommodation due to illness and they are getting no where with their local council and social housing.... I have seen a bungalow for £120,000. They have £40,000 for a deposit. I don't want them taking a mortgage - don't even know if they'd…

Is this morally right.
I currently live with my partner and three children in a council house. I am the only earner in house, due to partner losing job recently. We tried to get joint mortgage first, but was turned down because I was the only earner and had to support family. We could have easily afforded payments because the mortgage would have…

What type of Id docs are required to apply for a mortgage?
Hi guys, My friend and I want to apply for a joint mortgage but my friend has a UK issued Travel Document together with a Biometric Residence permit(BRP). He is a non-eu national. A few months ago, the bank refused to accept the travel document and BRP as proof of ID for a credit card. He sent the BRP to the DVLA for a…

First Time Buyer - HELP :(
Please bear with me as I'm not very good at explaining things. Basically the run up to this situation is this: I was a student 2007-2010. While at uni we were robbed and I had to replace a laptop (insurance wouldn't pay as one girl had been giving keys to boyfriends - whole other issue). This put me into my student…

Gutted. Declined a Mortgage
So my partner and I have probably had some dubious advice. We began to look for a property to buy last year and went to see a mortgage advisor who told us that in principle we could borrow up to 190k (we have 10% deposit, and earn 32.5k and 25k), but that it was not worth putting in an application until we had found…

Nationwide... a little advice if anyone has time.
Hi Guys, I currently have a mortgage with Nationwide that I’ve had for 7 years, with £86,500 left on it. Have sold the flat, and have put in an offer on a house worth £195,000. I have a 15% deposit and currently earn £32,500 a year plus overtime, plus bonus. Normally equates to the 40k a year mark. My credit file score is…

Buy to Let Mortgages
Afternoon, Does anyone know if there are any buy to let lenders that don't require you to already be a residential home owner as part of their lending criteria? I own a property at the moment but it is let out as I live elsewhere for work just now. I would like to investigate whether it would be at all possible for me to…

Should I pay my mortgage off?
Hi, Due to an inheritence I am in the lucky position of being able to repay my mortgage off in full at the age of 26. I have put off doing this so far as I have the money invested earning about 6%p.a. and growing. My mortgage rate is only 2.5%. I switched the mortgage to interest only as at the time it helped having the…

Re-mortgage question
I wonder if someone can help me with this. My wife bought a house, in her sole name, as is the mortgage, before we married. We both live there, I do not contribute financially to that property. I have very recently bought a property, mortgage free, and solely in my name which will either be let or used as a second home,…

What is a £200,000 house likely to be worth in 30 years time?
I guess this questions is like how long is a piece of string, but say if one were to have a house valued at £200,000, and no house crashes were to happen, what would it likely be worth in 30 years time?

New homes/townhouses
Why do new homes seem to have lower value or its price increase less than an older. (over 20 year or so). I also notice that townhouses stay on the market longer than "conventional" houses. Is there any reason or is it just a matter of preference?

Nationwide have me over a barrel :(
OK, the basics first 1. Mortgage with NW (Just under 90K left of a 106K Mortgage) 2. Property valued at 115K 3. Currently on the BMR (2.7%) and not tied to a deal. Heres the issue, just finishing a very amicable divorce and as a result the property is now in my sole name. I can afford the payments but fancied a new start…

DIP with credit check: is this definite?
Hi, got a decision in principle today from the Woolwich. This is to port my existing mortgage plus an extra £50k of borrowing.
