Re-valuation time-scale?
Ok, so how long is a piece of string...? No, really. Our new Solicitor via our Broker forwarded a written request to The Woolwich 16 days ago asking them to re-value the house we are hoping to buy from £249,000 to £235,000. The % we were looking to borrow would hopefully remain at 70% allowing us to retain £5,000 (approx)…

Second Charge?
We want to protect the cash gift we are giving our son to buy his first flat. I understood that a second charge (after the mortgage lender) would ensure that the cash balance of any sale could not be spent on fast cars or similar! The mortgage broker says that no lender will agree to a second charge (even though it only…

Mineshafts and mortgages
Currently still on the house hunt, but identified a strong contender. House is located on what seems to be a potential mining hot spot. I read once somewhere a lender offers free Legal "something" , or cash back. what is that legal thing? and is it better to get the cash back?
