Experian Credit score 853-fair. Can I get a mortgage?
I tried last year and got declined, based on 5% or 10% deposit. They said I could have one if I put £30000, but this was on a property of 130000(which a mortgage broker just got the quote on), which I probably would only go for a £90000 house now. I have just check my credit report, all 4 accounts are either satisfied or…

Mortgage adviser wants £300
We have been using a mortgage (financial?) adviser for some months (attached to our estate agent) to come up with figures for what we can afford in new monthly mortgage payments. All his facts and figures were scribbled on paper and no facts stored on his lap top. So if we wanted fresh figures we would have to go through…

overpaying by 10% but surely must be a reducing amount?
Bit of a hypothetical question, but my mortgage says I can over pay by a max of 10% if I could afford to do so and set up a monthly direct debit, surely this would have to reduce each month as it was paying off the capital so I wouldn't get charged for paying more than 10% of the reducing balance? A £100,000 mortgage would…

Should we move mortgages or just stay and keep fingers crossed?
We fixed mortgage rates at the worse time possible a few years ago, fixing at 6.9% and then interest rates starting falling rapidly! Our fixed rate with C&G is up at the end of June and we will be going onto their SVR which I think is frozen at 2% above the BOE rate - so we are currently looking at 2.5% when it changes…

Buying a second house for work
We own a house in the UK and I had to move abroad for work, so we got a consent to let from the lender and rented it out. We're planning on coming back to the UK, but I will be located in a different city from where our house is. Renting a place when we come back will be much more expensive than paying a mortgage, so we'd…

Info needed about (life) insurance
I'm a complete dumbo about this - I've heard of an insurance that runs for a set period (10 years for my friend) and then paid out a lump sum. Can somebody please tell me what this insurance is called? And would there be any point in a 70 year old taking out such a policy? :)
