overpaying by 10% but surely must be a reducing amount?

Bit of a hypothetical question, but my mortgage says I can over pay by a max of 10% if I could afford to do so and set up a monthly direct debit, surely this would have to reduce each month as it was paying off the capital so I wouldn't get charged for paying more than 10% of the reducing balance?
A £100,000 mortgage would reduce by £10000 in the first year but after the first direct debit the monthly payments would be more than 10%.
Or have I got that wrong?

With my current mortgage, the maximum I can overpay in a year is "10% of the outstanding balance at the start of the year".
So for 12 months I can pay off 10%/12 x the opening balance, but then at the start of the next year I would need to reduce the standing order.0 -
Ah. That makes sense now! I thought it would get a bit complicated otherwise!! Oh well unless I get a 200% pay rise in the near future it won't happen, pigs might fly! Just a
little dream of mine!! Thanks for the super fast reply!0
