Advice on Halifax Mortgage
I like many others have noticed that Halifax are raising their standard variable rate from 1 May 2012. Upto about 12 months ago I was on a three year tracker at 0.99% above base rate, which at the time was a good deal. When the deal came to an end I went onto the 3.49% SVR and since then have done nothing about switching…

2 or 5 years fix with 90% LTV
Can fix at 2 years at 4.79% and 5 years at 4.89% with the currect SVR at 3.79% I think that fixing for 5 years would probably be better as i) the rates are almost certainly not going to go down ii) If they rise, it will probably be in increments of 0.5% so just one rise is going to take you significantly closer to the…

Switching From Interest Only to Repayment Mortgage
My lender (Mortgage Express) has written to me saying they are going to change my mortgage from interest only to repayment in approx. 5 months time. Can they do this? SVRs going up?
I am coming to the end of my tracker with Nat Counties BS. I have a choice of going to new tracker BoE +2.69% ( 3 yrs) or discount on SVR(5 yrs, 4.69- 1.7% discount). I favour the discount. My only concern is that the SVR is changed without any change in Base rate. Their SVR is higher than Halifax (4.69 vs 3.5%) so i would…

overpay mortgage 2.49% V saving 3.1%
I have just taken on a 2.49% tracker mortgage. Repayment per month is £460. I will continue to overpay by £540 unless it makes better sense to pay this additonal funds into a savings account.
