Can I move early onto Halifax SVR?
Hi I have seven months to wait until my fixed rate with Halifax ends and I have a ERC of around £700 at the moment. Would Halifax let me pay the ERC and move onto their SVR, saving me around £200 per month? :money:

Hi hopefully someone can help, I'm going round in circles! My circumstances have changed and I'm having to rent elsewhere short-term. Initially this is for six months, but ideally it would be for three years (also giving me chance to save up to sell my current flat and relocate). I bought my flat for £105k in 2005 and have…

Financing a house extension
I am thinking of extending my house but I don't have a clue as to the steps involved. I know I'll need planning permission and drawings and some quotes before I approach my mortgage company but I'd be grateful if someone who has been through this could give me a step-by-step guide as to what to do. regards skinner

Remortgaging a property you don't own?
Hi there, I wonder if anyone can give some advice please. Briefly, my parents own their property outright. They recently looked into equity release schemes as they would like to free up some cash from their property but don't want to downsize. Thankfully they have realised that, financially, equity release is a really bad…

2nd Time buyer confusion!
Hi, I am a 2nd time buyer, but sold me previous property 5 years ago and have been in rented accomodation since. I have received an AIP from Halifax (£87,210), but have now read horror stories of their "soft footprint" AIPs! Bit of background, I earn £22,000 plus an annual 10% bonus, have a loan repayment £300 per month…

Any thoughts on the debate question: "Taking a Tracker Mortgage is a Good Bet"? I'm in the process of remortgaging and after spending almost 15 years on fixed rates because I wanted the certainty I am actually considering a tracker. My current fixed (deal ends June) is 4.49% so not horrendous but higher than my current…

what to do with my endowment?
Due to repayment of my mortgage, my now unrelated endowment policy has seven years to run, but my mortgage will be paid later this year. I essentially have a non-mortgage tied endowment policy, which although has performed really badly over the years currently has a sizeable value. I see this value as long term and don't…

What happens at end of interest only mortgage
What happens at the end of an interest only mortgage if there is nothing in place to pay off the capital? Found out a friend is doing this and doesn't know what then happens - he's not too bothered as his mortgage is cheaper than local rents so that's how he's looking at it. But I think he needs to start making some plans?…
