I'm in a position where I could recieve a large amount of money from a family member (£10-20k) which would help me and my fiance with our deposit. Brokers' vibes on rates?
Do any brokers here have a general feeling about what's happening with mortgage rates? Obviously, if BoE base moves then all bets are off... but assuming it stays at 0.5%..? Am particularly interested in the next 3-4 months as I can approach my lender for a retention deal at any time in this period.

Offset mortgage - repay or not?
A year or so ago I remortgaged my house for £80k over six years to buy another property. The mortgage deal was excellent - an offset at 2.39% over base so now 2.89%. I keep my savings in the 'offsetting' account so that they effectively earn 2.89% net. I am now in a position where I can, if I wish, repay the mortgage and…
