Agency Working

Hi all, me and my girlfriend are looking to move houses we currently have a mortgage but will obviously need to start the process again if we move. While my girlfriend has a full time normal job, i have not, i'm employed through an agency, problem is we are getting conflicting advise, i don't think i am classed as a contract worker or a fixed term contract worker (although i do have a 12 month contract with my employer). But if i mention these to banks they tell me i need to jump through many hoops. But my girlfriend has spoken to independent advisors who say because i have a steady monthly income then i should be treated no differently and should just be saying i am employed normally as long as i can provide proof of income but these would have my agencys name on and not the company i work for.
So where do i stand, are there any banks that accomodaye for this ?
Any advise would be great.
