Tracking fixed rate percentages over time?
Are there are websites that track fixed rate mortgage deals that can show you a history over time what deals have been offered? It would be interesting to see the trends of 2, 3 and 5yr fixed rates in the past to see how the banks perception of the future has changed over time.

Gosh where do I start, ah yes, I have had money problems in the past and am now debt free for the last 5 years but i did do an IVA. Now, my dad is giving me a rather large sum of money and I would dearly love to buy a house which would mean I would need a mortgage of £50-60k over 15 years. I am in full time employment, I…

I took out a 2 year fixed mortgage with Bradford and Bingley who have informed me that when my fix is up in June 2010 they will no longer be providing mortgages. So basically myself and my partner will have to re-morgage when June comes. Problem is we took out a 100% mortgage and our rate is currently 5.49%. We have…

Mortgages: Weekly payments
Hi All, I couldn't seem to see any other posts on this, so please point me in the right direction if necessary. A friend of mine has recently had her finances reviewed by an debt advice organisation, she was advised that she would reduce her costs and the length of her mortgage by making her mortgage payments on a weekly…

Credit File - query with linked address - possibly for mortgage application
I recently checked my credit file for the first time and there is an address linked to me that neither I nor my husband have any association with. I have reported this to credit Expert and they have said that: Linked addresses are created in several ways. - When a company moves an account from one address to another. -…

Mortgage Porting Help
Hello All, Wonder if you can help with a dilemma! We are due to move from the South East back to our native North East early next year so are about to put our house on the market. The house was bought for £289k in Sept 2006 and we're likely to get £249k for it now. At the time we put about £35k equity into the property…

NR fixed finished but payments continue...any advice?
Hi hope somebody can advise. I'm not used to this mortgage lark but we had a fixed rate with NR that finished sometime ago. We continued with them at a rate of 4.78%, the mortgage payments went down but could we get cheaper? We have a mortgage remaining length of 22 years 8 months! Closing balance 86,928,86 and unsecured…

It's time for an Interest Only Mis-selling campaign
OK, I know some folk will say "it was your own decision" but I really believe that Interest Only mortgages are a scam. We, like a lot of folk, brought our house using interest only because it was the cheapest way and nobody checked that we could pay it back. We were gambling that house prices would continue rising of…

First time buyer fix or tracker?
I'm wondering whether to fix for 5yrs or get a tracker for 2. There's a £60 per month saving with the tracker but I'm thinking rates can't really come down anymore. Plus I can't afford to pay more than I am with the fixed. I maybe answering my own question but any advice would be gratefully received.

Northern Rock trying to retain me after fix ends!
I was under the impression NR were trying to get rid of customers when the fixed term ends, but today I received an offer with no fee's. My 5 years fixed @ 4.95% finishes in Feb, and they are offering me a tracker at 2.59% above base rate, or a 2 year fix at 4.19%. Quite attractive considering there are no costs involved…
