Help on Fixed Rates Please
Hello All, Just looking to remortgage, now that my old fixed rate is up and a thought crossed my mind: - With interest rates at what must be an all time low, why would you not want to take a fixed rate mortgage for 3-5 years. Ok there may be some cheaper discount rates available right now, but I would "guess" by the time…

Is there any hope?
Hello everyone, My partner and I have around 6 grand to put down as a deposit on a house and was wondering if anyone knew of any banks or institutions that are still lending 95% ltv mortgages as we are just so, so fed up of saving. At this rate we will be saving for the next ten years to get on the property ladder. Anyone…

2 Mortgage in Principles, and complaints
Hi all, Myself and my girlfriend recently received an offer in principle from HSBC for their 5.99% 90% LTV 2 year-fixed rate mortgage. However NatWest now have the same deal but for 5 years which we'd prefer. I'm wondering if by having the mortgage in principle with HSBC means that we now can't go with NatWest, and if we…

Applied for a Mortgage
One of the questions was whether I had had a CCJ, (not ever had one) or any defaults and something else can't remember now. I mentioned to the adviser that I may have had a default with some bills such as water, gas and perhaps a catalogue - I know I couldnt pay my overdraft once and it was turned into a managed loan now…

Tracker deal ending, what next?
My tracker deal ends in in November, the rate is currently 2.13% (I'm making overpayments, so I know I can afford more). I don't know what to do because I'm looking at the benefits and disadvantages going on the standard rate or fixed. With standard - no fee. Fixed - a fee of about £1K every 2-3 years (that's alot when you…

End of fixed rate, have booked a new deal, good or bad decision?
Hi All My fixed deal comes to an end at end of Nov and have been looking for a better deal, currently on 6.24% owing £119k on 17 years. Had thought about SVR (HFX @3.5%) for a while and overpay or taking fixed out over a shorter term, but discounted the latter when advised, from here, that might lead to a serious hike if…

A technical interest question
Are mortgage providers supposed to quote the interest rate as the AER or are they supposed/allowed to quote the rate convertible monthly? Natwest for example appear to quote the rate convertible monthly but Halifax appear to give the AER, although everyone just refers to 'the interest rate'.
