Unemployed: can I re-mortgage?

Need some advice please...
Currently with Direct Line on their "Flexible Mortgage" (svr of 3.63%) that I've had since 2001.
It has (finally) dawned on me that I'm paying a lot here, and I should re-mortgage. Problem is that I'm unemployed (though in training), and just about making mortgage payments.
What's my best option in trying to get a better rate from another lender? LTV is less than 60%.
Any advice appreciated.
