Just a quick question for a friend... How long does it take to get a Mortgage agreement in principle from the Halifax? Their broker said they will send the application during the day today, have already done credit checks and have all the Id/wage slips etc. When could he expect an answer? Anyone got any idea? Thanks.

Say your repayment was £900 then pay £450 on one date and the second £450 some 14 days later. you only have to find one extra half-payment. Mortgage finished in 9 years instead of…

My hubbie & I are first time buyers and all geared up to see a mortgage broker. We have about a £20k deposit to lay down but I've heard that if we are get approved, find a property, make an offer and then the vendor were to pull out for any reason before contracts were signed that we, as first time buyers, would lose our…

Bank Statements & Mortgages

Hi, We are already in the last 11 months of a nationwide 2 yr fix. We're moving and am tempted to increase the loan with them to avoid high fees from a new lender and early redemption. From time to time I read that there are considerable numbers of people who are rich or foolish enough to just stay with the same lender at the end of the inducement/tied period. This gives rise to an interesting thought - are these people, in effect, subsidising the lower rates which the more 'active' borrowers are able to…
