Buy-to-let
Hi guys, I was thinking of buying a property to rent out. Is it possible to get a normal mortgage (not a buy-to-let) then renting it out? Are there any implications to this? If its not possible, is there any other way of getting round the much higher interest rates for buy-to-let mortgages? Thanks Chris

Would this make a difference
Hi there, Hubbie and I are applying for a new mortgage, and the mortgage advisor has asked us if we had any late payments on loans, mortgages or credit cards. A couple of years ago, I hd a couple of missed payments, but, since then (since about 2004), everything has been paid on time, and in January, I paid my husbands…

Will a DMP prevent me getting a Mortgage?
Hi I am looking at getting my debts in order with a Debt Management Plan. As is to be expected one of the conditions is that I will be unable to take out any more credit. This is fine, but does this also include Mortgages? I am currently living with parents and would like to move out later this year to live with my…

Consent to Mortgage - Witness fee!
We visited our solicitor today to sign the mortgage deed, but we have another form 'Consent to Mortgage' which I need to sign, as my name is not on the mortgage. The solicitor mentioned that he could not witness this signature as there will be conflict of interest if anything goes wrong. I was told to bring it to another…

Why does it take 6-8 weeks for a mortgage offer to come through?
or doesn't it? We have been told it will be at least 6 weeks. We have a letter from the building society saying they have all the evidence and we should get a formal offer shortly.

Fixed Rate Going Down?
"Fixed Rates Mortgages Getting Cheaper. Time to fix? A host of mortgage companies have dropped the cost of their fixed rates. This may seem strange as we're in a moment of rising interest rates. Yet fixed rates are based on the long term predictions on interest rates, not just what's happening in the short term. So if…
