Mortgage or ISA? Confused!!
I currently have an Abbey (Santander) eMortgage that is offset against an attached savings account & that I have been regularly over-paying, leaving me a nice little nest egg. Now that we are in the new financial year, I am trying to work out whether I am better off leaving this money where it is or transferring some of it…

overpayments with RBS interest only mortgage
Now I am more confused. I have just rang RBS and my balance on the 13th March was £111039.00, I have made my usual interest only payment of £372 and an addition overpayment of £1000 on the 1st April. My balance as of today 15th April is £110386.19? Should it not be £110039? I have also asked how interest is calculated at…

What was the hardest thing to cut down/out?
So kind of the opposite of my other thread... What did you find the hardest to cut down on, or cut out completely? For me, it was my car. When I heard I was going to be losing my job at some stage, I decided to put the car on the market and sell it when I got the money I wanted for it. So, I sold it 8 months ago now!!…

What won't you scrimp on?
Obviously everyone here is clearly trying to get their mortgage paid off, and we've all had to make some sacrifices, but what would you absolutely not scrimp on? Do you keep any luxuries? For me, we've not done a lot in the last couple of years due to my job, so I'd say we scrimp on most stuff! We have however treated…

Which mortgage to overpay and are we on right one?!
Hey all, First time we've ventured in here and would appreciate some advice. We bought a property in 2005 and were on a 5 year fixed - this expired in Dec 2010. We then sold that property and bought another in Oct 2010 at a higher price. We ported that mortgage and got another to cover the full price of the property at 85%…

Massive savings
Hi, I wanted to share with you guy’s how much my mortgage outlook has changed for me since buying my home in 2006. The change is due to overpayments made and TODAY’S interest rate. Both figures are vague due to it being a projection based on the interest rate for the duration of the mortgage. But for the purpose of making…

stingebag versus a fool and his money
Good morning!:o Having been a lurker for a while I have decided join the merry band of mortgage wannabees:T. My other half is "a fool and his money" (AFAHM) as that best describes my darling husbands attitude;). We…

Good morning everyone. I have been wondering about the overpayments I have been making. I am not in a position to send large amounts to my mortgage account, just small amounts here and there. Although I do try and make sure I have over £5.00 to send before I make any payment. Does anyone send off smaller amounts? tjp70
