What won't you scrimp on?

Obviously everyone here is clearly trying to get their mortgage paid off, and we've all had to make some sacrifices, but what would you absolutely not scrimp on? Do you keep any luxuries?
For me, we've not done a lot in the last couple of years due to my job, so I'd say we scrimp on most stuff! We have however treated ourselves to a MacBook Air and an iPad2 in the last year.

Apple fan? If that is what makes you happy rather than holidays and cars etc then that is great. How much does your job impact on you doing other activities? Sounds almost win / win as you save the money and dont have time to spend it.
In answer to your question I could never scrimp on my xbox and tv. I dont get hardly any time on it but when I do have a few free hours I like nothing more than to site and play some video games. Its not a great cost either and the rest of my money goes towards mortgage overpayments.0 -

We are mortgage free but about to take a huge drop in income.
Had a 'discussion' with my OH about this the other day. We are very MS anyway, so it is difficult to cut back, our one disagreement right now is going out.
It doesn't seem to matter to him if we don't do this; we can eat & drink more cheaply at home, get dvds with tesco tokens etc. But I find that very dull after a while and think the odd night out or day out with our daughters is necessary for general morale & well being!
I'm not talking anything flash, I can get free or cheap theatre/cinema tickets, meals out with vouchers etc. But he has a moan & thinks that's frivolous - I really don't, as long as its not excessive. Think the difference is he gets to socialise a bit with work, the rest of us don't & I think he's being a biut miserable.0 -

I agree with you, and the odd cheap day/night out will hardly break the bank. Even going out for a picnic in a park would be a nice trip out.

I think thats a bit out of order of him especially as he gets to go out with work. It doesnt cost a fortune to go out different places and just to get out and about is nice and see other people I think is essential.
I still go out pubs and clubs and as I dont drink alcohol I have soda and Blackcurrant which costs 35-50p a time. If I didnt do that I would go mad. yes Sacrifice is important but you still need to live your life and socialising and getting out is massively massively important to you, your health, your families health and your relationship!
p.s. the only thing I'm not scrimping on is a girl I am wining and dining at the moment![STRIKE]£106,200[/STRIKE] mortgage with 5% deposit 2 years ago on 6.99% 04/06/08
