Not exactly mortgage free material but can anyone offer advice...
I've posted a similar topic on another forum but if anyone could help i'd be grateful. Me and the other half are both 23 and living in our first place (moved in October 2008). Due to high deposits and so on we got a 50% shared ownership in a nice new build 2 bed flat in a decent area which cost almost £200k, our first…

MFW, disabled & going Part-Time
About 8 months ago I started paying into an offset account. I have managed to save a fair chunk of money. I am disabled with a progressive condition and was hoping to be MF in three years. Unfortunately I am no longer able to keep going full-time at work, but have been able to negotiate a reduction in hours. This means…

Anyone got any thoughts about the base rate
We are deciding whether to go onto a fixed rate or a variable when we renew our mortgage deal.. The fixed will be more expensive in the short term but once the base rate goes back up to 1.5% I think we'll be worse off. It's a three year deal so if the base rate stays low for the next 18 months we'll probably lose out…

From Start to Finish - Diary of an MFW
No time like the present to be thinking about getting rid of the mortgage and having spent quite a while benefiting from the fantastic information given on other boards, I wanted to keep a diary of our route towards being Mortgage Free. Keeping motivated
Hi Guys, My wife and I are overpaying our mortgage every month and sacrificing on things we would like such as nice holidays, new cars etc. We see all our friends doing these things, and I know that in 9 years we will be MF, but sometimes I think there is more to life than overpaying. What if I get run over by a bus…

Think i've already started...
The idea of not having to worry about the mortage is a nice thought - question is how to go about it... Some background: Bought house in 1997; 95%, so 43500 mortage. Had the mortage indemnity premium added to the main loan (silly me - but was the only option at the time) At the time, was advised to go fixed rate @…
