about 3 yrs ago I lent my brother £4,000 as he had got into debt. he did not tell me how bad it was, just that he was in a little trouble with the bank and HE DID NOT WANT HIS WIFE TO KNOW.I went along with this so as not to cause trouble. he emphasised I would be paid back shortly, and as a last resort he would…

This has thrown him as he now has no idea where is son is. He was not allowed to see his son as the mother didn't want to be part his life but paid his child support always.…

Hi everybody I'm posting under a new username because I know certain members of my extended family read this forum and I don't want them to know just how bad things are in our house. They aren't a supportive family and would just use stuff they read on here as a stick to beat me with. We don't have much money and I try…

Reusable Nappies
Does anyone use these reusable nappies at all? I would like to try them with my son and with any subsequent babies (fingers crossed :D ). How do you get one with them? They would save such a huge amount in nappies if I got it right. I've narrowed them down to Tots Bots and Little Lamb, any ideas/advice? Thanks

Divorce settlements
Hi. I'm getting divorced and over the years we have accrued a lot of debts. 2 in my name, 2 in his and 1 in joint. We've sold the marital home and the money has been lodged with the solicitors for 2 years now. We have £77000 equity sitting there. The debts run up to approx £50000 so the situation is pretty dire. He is…

Daughter "exceptional"
We had our parent teacher meeting this week and my daughter (aged 5 - in year one) has been described as "exceptional" by her teacher. She said she is perfectly behaved, considerate and kind and willing to try new things. But mostly she is far ahead of all the other children in every subject. We know she is a little smarty…

Feel so sad, hopeless and trapped.
This post might be more appropriate on the housing board (and I'm sure it will be moved there if that is the case). I thought I'd try here first though. I'm looking for some support and any advice regarding my housing situation. Last year when I separated from my ex I applied to go onto our local authority housing list. I…

Moneysaving on TV
If this is in the wrong place, please move. I have Sky + and so can record programmes throughout the day when I'm at work, so just wondered if anyone can tell me of any programmes that I can stick on record that have to do with moneysaving. The kind of things I like watching are any of those programmes where they try and…

How do I get a 8 year old to wash their hands???
My daughter is very nearly 9 and is making me despair. We have had threadworms in the past (i suspect she is the culprit most of the time) and so i am very conscious of washing hands, etc. My daughter, no matter what i seem to do doesn't seem to grasp that she has to wash her hands after using the toilet. I have put up…

Redundancy question
I will admit to being a little nervous in posting this message due to a thread from last year that I read with some unpleasant replies but I need advice so will go ahead. My ex husband has paid his maintenance for our 2 children regularly and with no problems since our divorce. I found out today that his company will close…

16 Yr Old..Homeless?
My 16YO Step-DD’s best friend has been kicked out by her mum and has been staying at our house for the past week. She’s such a lovely girl and I feel so so sorry for her (I won’t go into it but her mum’s not great and this a common theme with her other 3 daughters, none of whom now speak to the mum) We’ve been dropping her…

Advice on how to handle contact issues
Any feedback welcomed... I am mummy to two girls aged 3 and 1. Me and girls' dad split up earlier this year and he moved out. He is a good dad when he's with them but initially was very here and there with seeing the girls. After a strong talking to, the last few months he's been good at maintaining regular arranged…

Playing Away
Have a very strong suspicion that OH is playing away. I caught him out once before but tried to make another go of it. I have also found that he's in loads of debt (I wonder what he's been spending on?) When I have definate proof of his guilt, you need it with him, he is a good liar and not the sort to break down and…
