Old student loan settlement offer - is this right?
Hi all, I have an old-school student loan where the loan is written off 25 years after the first payment of the last loan is made. I graduated in 2000 therefore the first payment of that loan was 1999 and thus 2024 is the write off date. I started qualifying for repayment three years ago and have received a letter this…

Does a Payment Holiday on a loan impact a new loan or car finance application?
Hi all, Apologies in advance of a massive starter thread but one thing I have seen in numerous threads is lack of information and then drib/drabs flowing in throughout making it messy. If you prefer going straight to the query, go down to "The question really is" Background Checks: CRAs are all good aside from showing a no…

Student loan - yes or no?
Hi Backstory: I enrolled onto the final year of my degree as a 'mature student' on a part-time basis over 2 years in September this year. I've gone down to a 3 day working week to accommodate this but there is now a very high chance I will be made redundant in January. I think I will struggle to find another job that will…

Need a "complicated loan?
Mum divorced my Dad, might take years for their hotel to sell, my Mum now living with me. I plan to sell my house and flat and buy a bigger house for us all. Could do with a extra 50k and instantly payback once hotel sells so in effect loan against 50% share of my Mum's hotel, I'm guessing loans don't get this complicated…

Freeze interest on car finance loan payback
I took out high interest car finance almost 2 years ago. At the time I was able to pay it back. This year my circumstances have changed and I cannot afford to pay back the loan. They have told me that they can sell the car for me and take that amount off the final invoice. After reading the small print, it looks as though…

I'm not very savvy when it comes to money and am trying to make the best choice possible as I'm moving house in the next 3-5 weeks and my mortgage is going to be almost 3 times what I am currently paying. Any advice on APR please
Hi, I took a loan out with my bank. At the time the APR was around 10% and the length was 5 years. I was advised at the time that the Apr is very likely to be lower soon, and I could then switch. I have been very careful to not gain extra credit, and after 2 years of repayments, no offer has happened. I have called to…

A former friend never paid me back
In February, a former friend asked me to pick something up for her. She was only gonna pay for the PJ’s and not the travel. Months later, she said she would use the money she owed me to give me gifts instead. Now we are no longer friends, I think she should pay back for the pjs and the travel. If she refuses to pay me…

TSB Loan
TSB advertising loans for 2.8% up to 25K When I go to apply the first bit is a quote bit. For this I enter 23K and 4 years. This meets the criteria advertised on their site but at quote stage 9.9% is appearing. Why is this? Id expect 2.8% to appear. I'll contact them tomorrow too.
