HTB ISA - Have I understood it correctly?
I think I've got it but would like just like confirmation I have understood everything correctly so don't make any errors. My son opened a cash isa in Sept 2014. He has been paying into this Isa in this tax year - as I understand he can still open the new HTB Isa from tomorrow but must stop paying into the current cash Isa…

Htb Isa and ending of current isa
Hi guys. I've been thinking of the help to buy isa Now I have had a fixed isa for 18 months which ended in October and they automatically moved me to cash isa but I haven't paid anything to it. Would this rule me out of the htb despite me not physically opening an isa this year. Sorry if this was mentioned also but would I…

ISAs, joint accounts ans help to buy
I have used my Isa allowance for the year tying some money away. I have a fiancee who is a student who hasn't. We want a help to buy Isa which was always planned to be in her name, however she doesn't have an account with Halifax (which seems to be the best HtBI at the moment). As she is a student (final year) it is…

Urgent help need please.
Hi, I really need some guidance as to how to deal with my cash ISA which is an 18 month Fixed with Halifax. I have just realised that this ISA matures on Friday 4th Dec. (I have a sum of around £86,000 is this ISA which of course means I'm over the new protection limit). For various reasons I can't commit to more than a…

Opening HTB ISA with already opened ISA from prior year
Hi, I'll try to summarise the facts so my question is easy to understand. I've had a look around on other threads but I cannot find the answer to my query. 1. I already have an ISA which I opened May 2014. However I have been paying in money since April 2015, a little under £1,500. I understand I can still get a HTB ISA…

Halifax HTB ISA
Sorry if this has been posted but i couldn't see it. If it's within another thread then i've totally missed it. I can see Nationwide's HTB ISA on their website, full of info. Not Halifax's though. I'm lead to believe it's 4%, but only from reading on websites such as this & other money websites (not sure if we're allowed…

Where best to subscribe to VCT through?
I've decided to toe-dip into VCT's, and am trying to work out the best broker/platform to use for a small initial investment - thinking just the min £6k into the Albion VCT's to start off. I also inferred from some literature that the shares have to be direct registered so not held under a platform, is that right? Or is it…

Repaying withdrawals from Cash ISA
In the last budget the Chancellor announced that, from Autumn 2015, [FONT="]ISA savers would be able to take money out of their ISAs and put it back in, without it counting towards the annual ISA allowance[FONT="][FONT="]. I would add a link to the MSE [FONT="]article about it but as a new user I'm not…

HTB ISA interest rates
Natwest is first out of the starting blocks and is setting the bar with 2% AER variable. It's not up on their site yet but should be any time soon. This is a much better rate than I expected but is of course tempered by the fact that there is a very low maximum you can pay in each month. From a pure interest point of view,…

Help to Buy ISA - No Monthly Limit??
I thought I was totally clear on the HTB ISA details. You can save up to £200 a month, but nothing more. Sounded simple, but then the Virgin Money website started confusing me. https://uk.virginmoney.com/virgin/savings/help-to-buy-isa/ Now what does that mean? I'm aware that the HTB ISAs will also offer interest aside from…

Help to buy ISA and staircasing a shared ownership flat

After I complete on the first 25% share I will be saving up…

Cash ISA Curious problem
I've read all the ISA guides but can't find the resolution to this problem. I have two cash ISAs. One (Coventry BS) is a 5-year fixed rate ISA that does not allow further additions or transfers in. It was opened in May 2015 i.e. in the current tax year. The other ISA (Tesco Bank) was opened in November 2014 i.e. in the…

When it says "Interest paid annually"
Folks, when an ISA says "Interest paid annually" if you had say £5000 in the ISA for only 3 or 6 months, does it mean you do not get paid any interest. If you withdrew the £5000 after say 6 months. No interest would be given ? Apologies if sounds dumb question :)

Hello, I'm trying to make sense of the current schemes in buying a house, first time. I am a teacher, a key worker, currently working in Inner London. I have a large student loan which I have chosen to not pay off all at once and approx. the same amount in savings. My savings need to generate interest for me! I do not own…
