Looking to get a reasonable priced large bed for a large bodied guy!
I put on a huge amount of weight in past 18 months and was already obese, noticed in same time period my mattress has sunken down likely due to weight, the bedframe itself is still usable but a little sunken in one corner where I pushed my weight when I got out of bed. I have never had a bed as good as the old fashioned…

Decent kitchen taps
Can anybody recommend a decent brand of kitchen tap that doesn't cost a fortune please? Fed up with B&Q taps, blinking things have started dripping again, replacement cartridges are hard to come by. We plan on replacing the sink next year but don't think the tap will last that long, so need something that will be robust…

Plaster peeling on second coat after first mist coat taken
We had an internal window filled a couple of weeks back. The plaster is dry but where the plaster joins the original part of the wall it's still dark. How can that be as it's got hardly any plaster on it. I did one side of the wall yesterday. Did the first mist 40/60 ratio and it took fine. Went to go for second coat of…

Tumble dryer
Against my better judgment I am looking at tumble dryers. So far I see that heat pump driers are more expensive, but consume between 1/3 and 1/2 less than condensing ones. But are they really worth the extra money? The saving appears to be real (according to the spec sheet at least), but I would need to run it for a few…

Central heating pipework.
Hello, Does anyone know from experience how new build houses tend to run pipework? Is it generally through the walls using plastic pipes? All my radiators seem to enter the wall at the back rather than into the concrete floor. It Is the usual type of shoddy new build you would be expect in this country these days.

New Build Fencing
Hi all, I've been searching the internet trying to shed some light on this but I really can't find anything, so I was wondering if this community had any thoughts. I've been told by the developer of our new build property that the reason our back garden fencing has been constructed with wooden gravel boards and posts is…

Hi I am having a new patio installed and have a couple questions. The guys that are doing it are removing some existing turf to extend out and lift the old patio. Hanging mirror on inside of door - velcro coins.
Im looking to hang a full length mirror on the inside of a door and was wondering if this product would do the job. The mirror is 4Kg and these heavy duty velcro coins are rated at 2Kg so does that mean that I could use four of them, one at each corner, and the load should probably be ok? ie in theory, should four of these…

Just found out floorboards in inner bay window of bungalow are rotten
Hello everyone, I bought this bungalow in March, and did have a full RICS survey. The vendor asked me if I wanted to have a very large heavy wicker chair, which was in the bay window at the front. I moved it for the first time today. My curtain person came round this morning to put the rail up, and as he walked into the…

Stove installers refusing to repair faulty flue liner
Hello, We had a stove fitted 18 months ago. When having the chimney swept this summer, we had our sweep conduct a camera investigation after neighbours complained of a faint smoke smell. The sweep found a tear in the liner and decommissioned the stove. The installers went back to the manufacturers who agreed that it was…
