Stopcock broken?
Hi all I need to fix a dripping tap in my kitchen, but turning the mains water off is proving an issue. I have a stopcock under the kitchen sink, which turns nicely, but doesn't seem to have any effect in terms of stopping water coming out of the taps! Am I missing something obvious or is it broken somehow? Cheers

New Bathroom fitted - chipped sink
We've just had a new bathroom fitted, we bought the suite and hired fitters. We moved out when they started and the suite was delivered during this time. We've just got back to find there's a chip in the sink (it's small but in a brand new bathroom really bothers me :( ). The issue is I don't know who would be liable to…

Crumbling Bricks Back of Fireplace
Hello. I had the fireplace removed in my house but the back wall bricks are in bad condition. The surface is crumbly around the area behind the opening, but seem to be ok higher up. Kitchen Worktops
We have recently had a white gloss kitchen from DIY Kitchens fitted but we’re still torn on what kind of worktop to get. In terms of look, my preferred look is quartz like as we also want a waterfall effect on our island but can this be done with cheaper worktop materials? I know there are solid surface worktops, however,…

Rug gripper/anti-slip thingies - any good?
Our hall floor is vinyl, and we want to put a carpet runner on it that's about 9ft x 2ft (3m x 0.6m). How do we stop that sliding about? With laminate flooring still being a thing, I guess there must be an effective way to stop a rug sliding on that and surely the same thing would work on vinyl, so the question is - are…

Building contract and payments
We have reached the stage of signing a contract with our builder. The contract states that the payment should be in three stages (4 weeks, 8 weeks then 12 weeks). We are a bit uncomfortable with that - shouldn't it be 'stage' led rather than 'date' led? If there is bad weather or other hold up, we might not be that far…

Washing machine fault?
Not sure if our w/m has developed a fault. It's a five year old Bosch Exxcel 8 VarioPerfect. A couple of weeks ago the cycles started to play up. Leaking stopcock and crumbling paint
Hi there, The stopcock in my house has been leaking. There is water damage on the skirting board and the floorboards next to it and the stopcock itself has verdigris on it.
