We are in the terrace to the east of their house. Their neighbour in the terrace to the west of their house, also has a ground…

Builder vanished...advice and thoughts needed
Ok, so, I've been having my kitchen remodelled it's just about finished bar rehabbing a door, fitting a small piece of upstand, cutting out the kickboards for the dishwasher and fixing the seals around the bottom of the units, probably a days work at most. Thing is my kitchen fitter hasn't been in touch for 2 weeks now,…

Roof Tile cleaning
We have our house windows cleaned once every 3 months by a local company who do a good job They have recently added Roof cleaning to their repertoire My question is just how vital is it to keep a roof free from moss ? Surely moss is a natural substance that will return ? They clean it using a Sodium Hypochlorite solution…

Repair to small brick wall - what type of 'cement' do I need? [pics included]
I have a small brick wall in my garden, there used to be a large tree just behind the wall and it looks like it's roots have caused the wall to crack. I'd like to repair it to make it a bit more stable and was hoping for suggestions on the best type of concrete/mortar mix for an exterior wall. Any other tips gratefully…

Quick question please. I know an induction hob needs wiring in professionally, but could I just put a plug onto one and test each ring once at a time to make sure they are working before I cut a hole in worktop and get it installed? Conservatory roof
Hi All, Kids have grown up so the dumping room has regenerated and returned to a lovely conservatory once more. I class myself as a competent DIYer and now sprucing up the conservatory. Can't get rid of musty smell from wardrobe
I thought I'd found a bargain on facebook, a nice double wardrobe with chest of draws delivered for £65. It looks really nice and fits in the room well. But opening the doors or draws, there's this awful musty smell. The draws themselves are modern plastic covered chipboard with a white hardboard base, but the underside of…

Is our builder trying to con us?
We are well educated pensioners but I am beginning to suspect that we are being taken for a ride by a builder playing on our better nature. Before work was started we researched on line references and went to see work he had carried out nearby. They did half a days work the first week and then bits at a time (estimate 4-5…
