Have ideal (boilers)got it rite now
After the isar piece of junk, have they got it rite now with the logic. Iv read a few reviews on the logic 30 and from what I quickly researched it seems that they are pretty good boilers and backed up with 7yr warranty so they must be pretty confident. Iv narrowed it down to the logic and Worcester 29cdi. The WB comes with…

"Artel" brand Dehumidifier
Has anyone got/heard of this machine which also has a heater in it. It's stopped working and I wonder whether it's worth trying to get it repaired. Seems to be a refrigerant sort as it's very heavy. I tried googleing and can only find Italian site so must be made there. We use it in a garage/workshop and need something in…

How important is the external vent?
The external vent to my bathroom fan has been blown off by the recent storms. My bathroom is on the 2nd floor of a converted Victorian building. For clarity, it looks like this: http://www.prettyhandygirl.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/replace_dryer_vent.jpg How important is it? I have noticed that the fan now spins round…

Extractor fans
Hi How essential is it to have in kitchen and bathroom? I don't have one in either and wondering if I should bother? It's a bit problematic in the kitchen as we have an elec cooker which sits partly near a window (which we can't open) See pic http://twitter.com/richie9648/status/418379292913848321/photo/1

Clogged fabric softener compartment
When adding fabric softener to the washing machine draw I have noticed that it is always full of water from the previous wash.- What can I do to resolve/prevent this issue? Once I remove the draw I can see water holes above the draw- I am guessing that over time they have become clogged and do not perform as they should-…

We had new carpet installed 2 weeks ago. After a week we realised the stairs were wearing really badly where we are walking. We have vacuum it and tried to make the pile go the same way but no good. Is this normal? The carpet was from Carpet Right. A good underlay was used too (Softwalk 9mm). What do you think? Here is a…

Independent damp surveyors - Surrey
Hi, We have some fairly obvious evidence of penetrating damp. I have some vague suspicions as to the source but think we really need expert help as its pretty bad. I've read on this forum and elsewhere that the best initial course of action is to get an independent survey done and i found the Independent Damp Surveyors…

water pipe under extension
Hi, We're at the planning stage of building an extension, plans have been drawn up and building regs approval has been submitted. Having just spoken to neighbour, apparently the mains water pipe to their property runs under our existing extension (which is being replaced). My question is shouldn't this be on the architects…

Best paint stripper solution, since we have lead based paint on the job?
Bought the Nitromors lead paint test kit from B&Q - £7.98 just to satisfy curiosity. Anyway, cut the V into the underside of the bannister since this was caked in a million & 1 layers of paint. Rubbed for the stated timeframe & nothing - good news. Had already cut into the door frame of a bedroom so immediately went to…
