Kitchen Design
Hello, I have a small kitchen and am in the process of deciding which avenue to go down regarding who to buy from. I've got a 'howdens' kitchen plan that looks pretty decent to me - but for a 2.8m * 2m kitchen have been quoted near on £4k (6 units) which seems expensive. I've had another quote from a local firm for £3600,…

Thermostatic Mixer Shower on / in Thin Block Wall
Just bought my first house (so still only a novice DIYer!) We’re planning to replace the entire bathroom and will be installing a shower above the bath (currently no shower). Since there’s a window at one end of the bath, we’re forced to place the shower at the other end. As it happens, the combi boiler is in a cupboard at…

Mini Digger driving
Anyone any experience of driving a hired mindigger for the 1st time, (that they aren't too embarrassed to repeat)? I have the foundations for a free standing conservatory type build to do, just considering the econmics of hiring the digger against the digger and it's driver. £165 per week for the digger seems very…

Hi all, Looking for some advice. We're in the process of selling our 110 year old ground floor flat. Am I being unreasonable here?
Don't know whether I am or not Mum's house is currently being overhauled due to a burst pipe in December. One of the things that the contractors had on their list of things to do was get an electrical inspection. They did this AFTER all the decorative work had been done, sigh. The electrician came out and said 'I wouldn't…

Ceiling Joists - remedial work required??
Hi all - this is my first time so go easy! I am starting a house renovation, first element being a full re-wire. Having removed the old kitchen ceiling, it appears many of the ceiling joists have been weakened by previous electricians / plumbers cutting notches (for pipe work) and drilling holes (to thread wiring) – my…

Timber Kit
Anyone know anything about building a Timber Kit extension. I'm trying to get my head around the dimensions involved. If the extension is externally 3.2m wide, what is the internal width/floorspace likely to be once timber kit, insulation and plasterboard added (and any other bits).

Need paint to match UPVC Golden Oak
Just an outside chance, but does anyone know of a paint colour that will match well with golden oak UPVC windows? We used the dulux mixing service to get a sample pot to try on our garage door, but although we used a colour sample from the touch-up stick to match it too it's come out way too brown. Thanks MLC
