Help to buy ISA. Question
Hi guys, I've had a good look around the forum and the Internet in general, can't find the answer: Love the idea of the HTB isa, but often it says it's for first time buyers only.. I bought a house in 1998 and sold it in 2001, as we moved into my inlaws.. I guess technically that means I'm not a first time buyer? Any ideas…

Sole agency, then selling?
Had a sale which nearly went through on my property about a month ago, fell apart through various reasons. Now the person who was buying it is renting a few doors away has knocked at mine introducing themselves and asked would I still be willing to sell to them but not through the estate agent as we are both not impressed…

New build - Compensation for slow resolution of problems
Hi all, We moved into a new build 9 months ago and have had our gas cut off for five days now. Short version: The developer is fixing it, but they keep getting it wrong and are in no rush to sort it out. Long version: The developer is using a gas engineer that I don't have much faith in. He's twice "fixed" the problem,…

Shared ownership
I agreed to purchase a shared ownership property in December. My confirmation agreement letter breaks down the rent and service charge costs. My mortgage provider then asked for the memorandum, and the housing association have sent this to me as well, but it had increased the service charge and rent from the agreement…

Restrictive Covenants
Hello, We are in the process of purchasing a new build house and recently obtained our contracts for the property. The solicitor asked us to "quickly read and sign" and wanted the documents in the post the same/next day to enable us to exchange contracts (conditionally) and pay them the 10% of the house price deposit. We…

House Offer - Solicitor
Hi All, Just been to view a house which we love and will potentially make an offer on. The estate agents mentioned that to make an offer we needed to have a solicitor in place? I was under the impression that we needed a DIP, which we have got, and a solicitor came once we proceeded with the application? I'm very confused…

Rental Deposit
Hi, Looking for some advice. My fiance and I found a house we liked and agreed to rent it. We have paid a deposit, but haven't yet signed any leasing agreement. The advertisement for the house said that we could get Sky or BT broadband and we also did an initial check on the area and it does have fibre optic broadband.…

Lowering your offer ?
Ok, so if you make an offer on a property that gets accepted. Solicitors are instructed. But then you realise, mmm this property isn't quite worth the amount your paying. After Zoopla estimates and passed figures, I think I'm paying £2000/3000 more than it's worth. Can I reduce my offer, or am I tied to my original offer,…

Buying a house with Common Lime Tree in front.
The house is a late Victorian house (yet to visit). The tree is about 40 ft tall and located on the pavement about 6ft from the front boundary wall and in total 22 ft from the front of the house itself. Would this put you off taking it further for either structural or sap issues now or in the future?

Vendors won't commit to completion date
Advice please, or previous experiences welcome! We had an offer accepted on a property mid-Feb. When we offered we advised of our desire to move in the Easter school hols (I know this means nothing, but the vendors were also keen to move quickly so we agreed to aim for this). We are renting our current house out and have…

Exchange Deposit ...
Hi, I've read a few times now RE having to pay a deposit when you exchange on your new property. What happens if all the money for your new home is coming from your old house that you're selling? Hope that makes sense. Just wondering if it's taken care of, or if you have to still come up with a deposit... Thanks
