Buying land for building.
I want to do a self-build like my dad did some years ago where to reduce costs he bought a large plot/field without planning permissions after speaking to planning officers discreetly as to the likelihood of getting planning permission (which he got). He bought the land, divided it into 3 plots, one the size, shape and…

New build with no phone line!!!

Bad enough but it took us to find this information out as Redrow were 'unaware' of any issue,…

FTB she'll shock: compromise vs future plans
Today I've visited areas of the houses I'd seen on right move and done further research on property available at my budget of around 135-140 k with view of 10-12.5% deposit. Wow what an eye opener and nearly brought me to tears! No house is ready to move in. I can get passed bad decor ...but some look like a dive. Some…

Newbie question about selling of house
When selling your property I am getting myself confused about what happens to the profit made. For example; Buy a property for £190,000 Borrow £171,000 Interest rate of 4.38% 4 years later I now owe £154,543 on the mortgage. If I sell the property (4 years) at £195,000 does that mean I recoup £40,457?

lied to by house seller
We purchased last May and during the survey the surveyor questioned the build of the house as he was convinced it was timer and brick. The seller said it was all brick and no timber and got his solicitor to put this in writing. We had to have a new bathroom and the builder found serious structural problems but also that…

Saving to buy whilst renting
OH and I saw a mortgage advisor this morning to get some ballpark figures so we could decide whether buying is feasible for us. At this point in time, it isn't and we'll have to rent instead. But I'd like to hear from people who saved up to buy whilst they were renting. How long did it take you? Do you regret either the…

Application stress!!! Advice please! :)
Ok. So I got an AIP for 105k xmas and put an offer in and got accepted for 88000. I'm putting down 10% from savings. ( the women who faxed then missed the company name off just 1 payslip which delayed the process) so they…
