Floor is caving in in new flat i'm renting
I was moving some stuff into my flat yesterday and as I stepped onto the kitchen tiles one of them gave way. There were a few tiles that had to be replaced and I thought all was well but now I know why they're cracking. The floor boards are like mush and wet. It's a first floor flat. When I walk on the tiles they seem to…

Applied for mortgage and 7 searches done on me
Our mortgage advisor apples for a mortgage for us through Halifax and I have had 6 searches done on me in one day by bank of Scotland (which is owned by Halifax I understand) anyone know why this would be? Obviously not happy with that as it has a bad effect on my credit report, but unsure what to do. Is that normal?

Is it easier to get a rent agreement then a mortgage
We have been turned down for a mortgage even though our credit scores are both good (no late payments etc too) we take home 3500 between us a month. We are looking to rent a house for 1000 a month. Are the credit checks to rent anything like the checks for a mortgage or are they easier to "pass"

I am in a worry over a property I really want but am unsure how to go about things, not had any experience with estate agent procedures (other than viewings) or property purchasing. We have never rented before and having this house fall through has knocked us for 6 a…

Sorry - Another Covenants thread!
Hi all, we're getting close to exchange of contracts now and I've got the report from our solicitor on our purchase. There are 6 covenants in total and the solicitor has commented that the restrictions are not unusual and that they won't affect marketability. 4 of them I'm not too bothered about, I'll keep the boundary…

What's a welsh ceiling?
Hi all, I've been looking at the details for a dormer bungalow and it describes the bedrooms as having sloping welsh ceilings. Obviously I understand the concept of a sloping ceiling but just wondered what specifically made it welsh. I've googled it but come up with nothing. Any ideas anyone? Thanks :)
