RBS mortgage, how long?
Last Monday we provided RBS with payslips etc via our financial advisor, and so far we've heard nothing back. Our IFA doesn't feel good about it as he thought the survey would have been booked by now. Just wondering if anyone else has used RBS and how long things took? Is this wait normal?

Wanted to get an idea - this one keeps coming up and is being causing controversy. The specific circumstance would be where you had no other option other than repossession.

Polution
We had the HPC thread. Then we had the HPC board. Now we've got the HPC, economy whatever board. But it's hard to talk about anything to do with houses, anywhere on MSE, without the tread getting swamped by a small clique of fanatics using multiple user IDs, pushing an uber-bear agenda. I've recently wasted several…

whats seen as a reasonable offer for a new house
I have found a new development in Billinge, Lancashire. The asking price for a 3 bed semi is £149995. The builders aren't building unless they get a deposit down on a plot and are currently offering only 5% deposit with carpets or a helping hand scheme of 85% pay up front and the other 15% within 10 years. They talk as if…

True story (except for the bits I made up)
I went to the motor show a few years ago. Looked at some fancy cars. That'd be nice, I thought, so I bought one then and there at asking price. Didn't bother haggling, after all it wasn't an investment, I was going to drive in it. Next I went to the shops. Bought myself a fancy suit, some shirts and ties. Didn't bother…

Remortgaging and letting a house that you currently live in?
What if you have been living in the house for 5 years... if we can't sell (looking that way) am considering renting it out instead. I would also look at remortgaging through another lender... We currently have 75% (or more) equity. Might look to draw down on that - either at the time of remortgage or later. Better (or even…
