Polution

We had the HPC thread.
Then we had the HPC board.
Now we've got the HPC, economy whatever board.

But it's hard to talk about anything to do with houses, anywhere on MSE, without the tread getting swamped by a small clique of fanatics using multiple user IDs, pushing an uber-bear agenda.

I've recently wasted several minutes, that I'll never get back, explaining that 5% is not 50%. And all I got was LOL.

Has this whole MSE thing jumped the shark? Or do the mods just not care, anymore?

Get over it. The market is much more likely to go down than up.
    Happy chappy
  • I don't think its the worst bear-scenario ever, to get all anal about.

Poster seemed to think another 5% off by the summer, means you've "saved" 5%...and 5+5=10...of course, we know that's no good for the deposit to get to 10%, but I see this example as a case of not thinking it through while writing, rather than a clever/annoying bear ploy.

If he'd tacked on the end "and keep on saving too", he'd be right, 10% could well be in sight.

When reading the offending post, my first assumption was just that - how the deposit would *continue* to grow, as the OP had already been saving to get 5%.

Not until your post did I spot his % error.

Get over it. Plenty of worse examples to come, for sure.

With respect (none at all) that's facile bull. It's not an isolated example either. Are we about saving money? Or talking rubbish?

I don't even know if you're real or not. But more rubbish = more numbers. And Martin seems to like having lots of people, even if they aren't all real. Ah, fsck, what the hell?
  • Enjoy your weekend.

Oh, I'm hoping to get banned. ;) It's not just the house thing. When I joined this board, it was useful and people shared experiences and information. These days, you can't tell the corporate shills from the crooks with an agenda from the nutters with an axe to grind.

It's gone down hill and I don't like that.
