Tax advice on rentals
A relative of mine and his partner own outright as joint tenants the property in which they presently live. One partner is a higher rate taxpayer, the other is a basic rate taxpayer. Landlord hasn't returned full deposit
I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to do now... I moved into a privately rented furnished property, through a letting agency, in December 2005 and paid a £700 deposit. The tenancy was never renewed, but we continued to live there until April this year. We moved out because the landlord decided to sell the house and…

Shared Ownership - should I buy more shares?
My 2 year fixed rate is due to run out in June and I need to re-mortgage. I had planned to buy my final 20% share of my property at the same time. This would mean adding 70 grand to my existing 160 grand mortgage with a property value of 335 grand. Would I be a fool to do this at this time? At present there is 100 grand…

Right to manage/buy freehold if building >25% commercial?
Hi We've found ourselves in the position of having a crap management company that won't do anything. But our buiding is more than 25% commercial - more like 35% or 40%. There are lots of repairs that need doing but don't think they will unless we can oust the management company. Do we have any power to do this?
