Part Ex with Barratt
Has anyone recently done it? We did it 15 years ago and got a fair deal. We are planning to do it again and having a valuation this week, but have a feeling they will offer us lower than we want. Just wanted to know if anyone has done and been offered other incentives from them. Ideally I would love for them to pay my 5%…

POLL: Real Inflation figures
Somehow, I think the CPI and RPI figures are being fudged. I know it sounds paranoid, but how is it possible that we're only paying 2.1% - 4.3% more? My personal inflation feels MUCH higher! I'd like to know what everyone else thinks. Please ESTIMATE what YOUR INFLATION is running at here. I'll start: 6% at least due to…

Rental agent wants to change my energy supplier
I have had a follow up letter regarding one that I ignored. The agent I am renting off wants to change all it's properties to Southern Electric and gas. They say it makes it easier when new tenants get the house. I do not want to change and if I did I would sort it out myself (using Quidco of course). I assume I can tell…

Hello all , please can I pick your brains? Oh, and apologies as well as I'm about to tell a long tale..... I'm currently renting a house fully managed by a letting agent - the owner is abroad and rarely contactable. I recently had a problem with the plumbing on the Sunday just before the christmas break and the only toilet…

HELPED I've been duped (planning permission)
Hello, In 2005 I bought a new build propery (a flat in a block of 12) and have since learned that it does not comply with planning permission and as such cannot be sold. I reported my solicitor to the law society who listed the complaint in the "most serious" catagory and ordered that they repay 50% of our conveyancing fee…

Can students buy houses?
Can students buy houses? I am 23 and considering going back into full time education in September so would only be working part time. My OH works full time so we would have 1 full salary coming in plus my part time salary but i don't want to keep renting for the next 5 years if we can avoid it. It wouldn't be straight away…

Negotiating rent
I'm sharing at the moment, as I'm saving to buy a place, hopefully within a year or two. However, I'd like to get a place of my own for a while. I did the sums and, with council tax, gas/electric, savings etc, the most I can manage is around £400pcm for rent. There are a few things at that price around here, but not much.…
