Currency query - Thailand
Can anyone confirm whether its true that the best thing to do is to take out to Thailand British currency and get it changed out there as its a better rate? Also is it true that the airport's rate once you get there isn't that much dearer than the exchange offices? And how can we find out what rate we would get out there?…

Florida Car hire
Apologies for being dopey but I am getting myself confused around sorting my car hire. I have read the MSE link and checked out the comparison websites for car hire. We ae going 22/3/14 to 5/4/14 and it seems to come out around £340 to hire a mini van (6 of us). My confusion is around the insurances, the deal I am looking…

Can I sell back currency anywhere?
Hi All, Sorry if this is a dumb question :o :o I have some UAE Dirhams that I bought about 8 months ago and had forgotten all about, around £170 worth. I would like to change these back to GBP. I have literally no idea where I bought them from at the time (in fact I may even have withdrawn them on my card over there), but…

Airline loyalty miles
Is it just me or do airlines award loyalty miles because they know most people are unable to use them? If so what is the point of them unless you are an exceptionally frequent flyer? I've just had an email from KLM to give me my balance and tell me that I need another 15 flights to qualify for anything but must use them or…

Phew - Ryanair's new bag allowance left out in their email - but covered in T&C
I don't usually even read that email, but since the changes are coming: Free 10kg Cabin Bag Allowance There is a free 10 kilo cabin bag allowance per person (except infants). Only one item of cabin baggage is permitted and all personal items must be carried within the one cabin bag. Curiously the LINK from this paragraph…

Euros to dollars
I think this is a very silly question but one I am stuck with. I have some euros left over from a holiday (a 20 euro note). My friend is off to America in a few weeks and wondered if I would be able to do a straight exchange from euros to dollars at a bureau de change? Many thanks

OAP gone on long stay holiday and forgot travellers cheques
Long story but my mum went on holiday this morning to Malta for nearly two months - accommodation booked direct with hotel and unpaid. By luck my boys wanted to call her this evening as she left too early to say goodbye to them. Half way to Malta she realised her money belt (containing Euro cash and Euro travellers cheques…

Paying for Villa in Euros
We are renting a villa next year with 2 other families. The villa is 2100 Euro and they've asked for 3 instalments. Deposit now, one in June and one before we arrive at the end of July. For damage deposit they've asked for 4 cheques of 500 Euros which I presume they will return on departure and in theory cash 1 or more in…

USA Mercedes/Prestige COnvertible Hire?
Has anyone found any reasonable rates for an E-Class or similar convertible for £40 per day etc? Some independent guys have set up websites to try to get $5,000 dollars for a weeks hire. The vehicles depreciate by $5,000 annually which on normal mileage of 20k per annum in USA = 600 per month. double that for higher miles…

The link in the email gives me the option to…

Flights, UK to San Francisco, 2014
Hello. I would appreciate some help with a query if anyone is able to offer any. We are hoping to fly to San Francisco next year in late spring or late summer (i.e. June or September, but flexible) from the UK. Reasonably flexible on connections, etc., too. I understand there is no "best" time to buy flights but perhaps…

Old US Dollars
Hi All I bought some US Dollars back in 2007 for a trip to the States. Unfortunately I was taken ill and did not go. I have a chance to go next year and I'm wandering if the US dollars I bought back in 2007 will still be ok to use or has there been a change in the style of Dollars that render these out of date. Many thanks…
