Fix Long (18mths+) or Short (12mths)?
So... whats thw whisdom in the Enegry club? Should we fix long term, or go for a standard 12mths fix? Or even go for a cheap variable rate and no exit fees? I'm baffled (it's that time of the year for me... AGAIN)! LoL Dan

Mystery 39 day spike in elec bill....?
Problem: I live in a No. state. Elec bill follows the usual "bell curve," high in the winter gradually diminishing until lower (about half of winter usage) in the summer. For a 39 day period starting the end of May my usage shot up to a level higher than my max. day in winter. It stayed there for 37 days, at this very high…

Ebico/SSE replacement?
I have been with Ebico/SSE for a while now with their Equi-Gas/Power plan that has no standing charge. I have pre-pay prepay meters. That is coming to an end and I will be moved to SSE where there is standing charge. A very rough estimate tells me that I will be paying about £200 standing charge per year for gas/electric.…

GBES didn't transfer my acct and are chasing me for payment! Can this affect credit?
In March I transferred my gas and electricity from GB Energy Supply (which had been acquired by Co-op Energy after going bust) to Iresa. I have regularly been paying Iresa, and Iresa only, since then. I was in credit, so GB Energy sent me a refund for ca. £ 450 a few weeks later. I have never received any statements, nor…

Is my 92 year old Nan entitled to a free boiler??
Yes, I get it, this seems a very obvious answer BUT She doesn't currently have a boiler so can she get a free one?? Her supplier is British Gas and She has no Central heating whatsoever- she uses a gas fire in the living room and the hob!! Before anyone criticises me (re looking after her), you haven't met my nan and she…

Sorting Utilities When Moving House
Hi, Anyone know how you sort out utilities when moving house? I am shortly due to move into a flat. I think both gas and electricity are with E.ON, but the electricity is on a pre-pay meter which I want to get changed (the landlady has said this is fine). My understanding from a brief google search is that I have to ring…

Smart meters but had a meter reader.
Hi there I have had smart meters installed in early May this year. Today Npower have sent a meter reader. He has read the electric but not the gas. Is this normal as I thought the idea of smart meters was that meter readers didn't need to read the meters as the smart meters send the readings. Thanks

Changing tariff with same supplier mid-contract
They want to charge me £60 exit fee to switch to a cheaper tariff. I could understand if I was switching supplier. So the total savings would be £17.00 after the £60 exit fee. Does this sound right? Thanks

Smart meters not worth the bother?
Just got off the phone to British Gas about installing smart meters for gas and electricity. I understand: 1. Installation of each will take an hour, during which the electricity has to be turned off. 2. British Gas pay for it in full. 3. Once installed British Gas will get meter readings automatically so I won't need to…

EdF are going to leave us without electricity for 6 weeks - moving supply
I'm having a bit of a nightmare. I'm pregnant with my first and the baby is due at the beginning of October. We are having work done to our house - loft conversion and structural kitchen works, which are scheduled to complete before the baby arrives. As part of the kitchen works, our meter needs to move as it's ancient and…

Immersion or Kettle?
I am on an economy 7 meter with Scottish Power and have an immersion heater tank for water. I have the option to put the hot water on "timed" meaning that it only heats up at night using the cheap electricity. However, I live on my own in a flat with an electric shower. The only thing that hot water is used for is my…

British Gas leaving penalties
We are on the "Electricity Collective Fix Oct 2017"dual fuel tarrif with British Gas, this ends on 3.10.17. In view of the large increase in electric announced today, we are looking at possibly switching to another supplier when this ends. I was hoping to maybe set this in motion about two weeks before the contract ends,…
