is it possible for pre-payment meters to be wrong?
We live in a small one bedroom flat, with four radiators. Over the past year we've paid almost £800 in gas and £600 on electric. £1400 total. This seems really excessive for a one bedroom flat. We're on pay-as-you-go meters and the landlord refuses to change us over to normal credit billing. Is it possible that the…

Amazing customer service - Scottish Power
We all gripe when we've had a rubbish time so thought I would share a good news story for a change. After being with SP for just over a year, I realised via recent regular meter readings that I had over paid and it was increasing every month. Rang up the SP customer service line Tuesday ready to ask them to refund the…

Can anyone help explain this? Faulty meter?
About a year ago, we switch to EDF energy via a door to door salesman. He assured us that EDF would be cheaper than the £40 a month we were paying to British Gas for both our gas and electric. So, we switched to EDF and over the next few months, we payed them £40 a month. When we gave them a meter reading, we were suddenly…

Washing Machine Cycles - least electricity?
Hello, Is there a way to work out which washing machine cycle uses the least amount of electricity? I've been using the 30 degree cycle for most washes (takes 1.5 hrs) but there is a 50 degree cycle which only takes 32 minutes. The instruction manual doesn't list wash times or energy use except for the special 40 degree…
