British Gas emergency credit query

Please can anyone help me. We have had a week of non stop paying out and havnt bern able to top up our pre payment gas meter. We cannot top up until monday or tuesday morning either. We are now in the £5.00 emergency credit. Can anyone tell me if it counts down backwards from £5.00 to £0.00 or if it goes from 0.00 to 5.00. Could fo with knowing as we didn't tske notice and iy now says £4.10 and we only put it on last night.
