Average Energy Usage/Economy 7 Bill for a 1-bed Flat?
Hi My boyfriend and I put in an offer for a flat earlier today. It seems perfect but we're trying to figure out all utility costs before we put any money down. The landlord said the energy is just electricity, no gas, and it's on Economy 7 with EDF energy. We're in Surbiton, just outside Kingston-Upon-Thames in Surrey if…

After having to fight Southern and finding out they do not charge a standing charge on electric even though our meter was charging us £2.45 per week (they refunded £77.50 to our debt) we were placed on their social tariff. great you would think, save 20% so they would have you believe, however they charge a standing charge…

Shocked by Electricity Bill - Help requested
Hi all, I live in an all-electricity one bedroom flat; recently moved here over the summer. I've just switched electricity providers and got the shock of my life when I saw that the one-month bill which was the final bill was greater than my previous 3-month bill! Although to be fair - I was only in the property for 2 of…

Moving gas and electric meters
HI, My gas and electric meters are in a cupboard in the hall. I want to relocate them the other side of the cupboard wall, which means they will then be inside the front porch. This will free up a lot of space in the hall as it is extremely small. the distance between the current location and the proposed location will be…

At Wits end with British Gas
I have Economy 7 heating and get my electricity from British Gas. In Jan 07 I got a letter asking to replace my meter from Western Power. This they did. I didn't know then that WP were affiliated to SWEB my previous supplier. To say BG had a problem recognising the meter is the understatement of the year. It took 18 months…

EDF & nectar?
Hi, I am thinking of switching to EDF from EON as all the comparison websites reckon should save me £100 or so. Question is-if I go through one of them for the cashback, can I still get the 5000 bonus nectar points that they give new customers? Or would that be only if went through the nectar site? Thanks

Needless to say we've never had a single bill or letter or call from the supplier so we think the housebuilder is still paying for our…

E-on - hacked off
Ok, we've been with E-on since moving into this house - it's a 3 rate meter (yes really) and apparently only e-on and npower bother to cater for those. Anyway, I was a bit shocked to be paying around £100 a month, so I intended to switch after a year once we knew what our consumption was. A year came and went and I just…

Not paying for gas - am I liable?
I have had a lot of problems over the years with my electricity and gas being transferred to new suppliers without my permission. The problem seems to be that the databases the energy companies use are inaccurate. The current situation is that I'm tranferring my electricity back to Scottish powe no problem, seemingly my…

Anyone on EDF Prepayment Electric....
Check your prices that are being charged!!! We were sent a letter saying from 31 March any new amounts credited to the meter will be on the "new lower rate" - with no indication at all what that rate should be. So I checked the rate on the meter (but using the blue button on the key meter) and noted roughly what they were…

The tenancy wasn't changed from my name though but the names on the electricity was with Atlantic Electric. Hi, I've been trying to get my head around this. I have an imperial (cuft) gas meter, but my supplier is billing me in cubic meters (and has been for some time.) Do I owe them money, or do they owe me? We are thinking of switching suppliers, and don't want a big shock soon. Thank you
