Questionable practices or illegal ????
Every Energy company has, and does, increase prices almost in tandem using the argument that price of crude has increased. Crude prices have dropped by $40 per barrel in recent weeks - why haven't energy prices done likewise ? The companies state that they buy their energy 'in the future '. Will they pass on the reduced…

Have British Gas still to increase prices?
I'm really confused with these price hikes and whether to switch, cap or what! I've been trying to wade through the minefield tonight by doing the comparison thing but am still confused! British Gas are coming out best but they seem to be one of the ones who have not increased their prices. However they increased prices in…

"Finalising" energy account..
I switcehd a few weeks ago from nPower to Eon... nPower phoned me under the premise of "finalising" my account but instead tried some high pressure tactics to encourage me to stay (Including lying about Eon charging me a hidden premium). I have since had a couple of letters from nPower saying I should phone them to…

Yet to be informed of Price increase
I was on British Gas Click 4 Energy :o . When the prices increased at the end of July 2008, I was expected to either receive an e-mail or a letter informing me of the price increases to both Gas and Electric. As I could only find Click 5 prices - which have not increase, and had not received any notice about increases, I…

Is Economy 7 being missold?
Hi I'm not on Economy 7 but my parents are and last weekend they showed me their bill  The thing that jumped out at me was that they were paying more per unit during the day than I pay on my standard tariff. Then I thought "Why don't they switch to a non-E7 tariff in the summer months" and another spreadsheet was born…

Economy 7 meter - night dial hasn't moved
I just took my first monthly reading in my new home (moved in last month). The flat has an Economy 7 meter with 2 dials. However, there has been no change in the 'night' reading at all, even though I am quite certain my immersion heater is on only during the 0000-0700 hours (not ALL the time, just 30 minutes). Could my…

Look before you leap
Just a thought. I have chosen to move from EDF online V4 to Scottish Power fixed 2009 from 1/8/08 prices not the ones after 5/8/08. These are 7.5P PER KWH for electric more expensivce but I thought of piece of mind for the year. I did not stop to think of what after the fixed period. Energy companies will be less likely to…

Well we were advised that we should wait until all the suppliers had put up their tarrifs until moving however I guess the time to move is now or soon. Does this afect there Supply On Line tarrifs (SOL)? I'm on: SOL 11 gas tariff (paying £35 per month) 4.532 per kWh up to 4572 and 1.89 thereafter SOL 11 electricity tariff…

Any capped deals left? (tidy ones that is)
Apologies for being so dull but I'm sure I read somewhere on this site that Scottish Power were still offering a decent capped deal? Is this still the case?

British Gas say sorry for leaving !!!!
A few months ago my Dad (whos in his 70s and lives alone) had a letter from British Gas telling him they were sorry he was leaving. He phoned them, and they said they could re-sign him up but there would be a 3-4 week delay when he'd be with his new company. My Dad knows nothing about any new company. He did say that…

I am going to ask my landlord tmrw if he would mind me getting my own electricity meter installed... one where I have an account with the electricity board. I feel this way would be best for me. Energy Saving Monitor
Hi Loving my new energy saving monitor from E-On. Am really surprised though to find that even things I wouldnt expect cost money - eg the gas combi boiler, not turning the dishwasher off after it has finished its cycle. We are currently running at about 100W with nothing on, could that be just the fridge and freezer or am…

The Scottish Power Capped Rate Issue
Can anyone explain Scottish Power's Marketing Policy ? I had a knock at the door at 8pm on 27th August from a young lady representing SP. She asked if I'd like my electricity for 8p per kWh and gas for 2p per kWh, with no service charge and capped until October 2009 ? I'm normally pretty switched on about rates but with a…
