Help I'm confused!!

Hi, I was wondering if people could help me here? I applied through money supermarket to get a British Gas capped rate at the start of Aug just before the capped rates were removed (fixed until Dec 09). I hadn't heard anything so I phoned BG and MSupermarket today and they said they had no recored of my application. Whilst on the phone to BG the guy said that he could offer me a capped rate until '11 but couldn't offer the 09 rate as that has now been removed. He also said that the '11 rate would be cheaper. I'm confused!! I then got a phone call from BG from a customer services lady saying that she would honor the 09 rate should I go with that???
