Unrealistic Gas Bill from Scottish Power for 4 bed house??
Hi Just received a massive Scottish Power gas bill for the last quarter which seems totally unrealistic. The property is a 4 bed detached which is rented and we moved into in Jan 08. Changed the utils to Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 4 Dual Fuel via USwitch which commenced on 28 Jan 08. Gas meter was read by them as…
Why the difference?
When I used the same info on the moneysupermarket, energyhelpline and uswitch sites, I got different results. The energyhelpline and uswitch were close with British Gas being closest to my present Scottish Power price but moneysupermarket was wildly different, showing a British Gas £183 saving! Has anyone else found this…

units per week?
Hi, just wondering if anyone can let me know if this gas consumption seems excessive-I have an old(ish-about 10yo) gas boiler, combi, and thats all gas is used for. my latest gas bill seems huge (I HATE direct debit gas etc-why cant i just DD my whole bill and still get the same discount rather than have the obviously WAY…
British Gas essentials tarif
We are on a low income and recieve CTC and WTC and I therefore applied to go on to British Gas' essentials tarif as I have a prepayment meter and this tarif is the lowest offered. I was forced into the PPM (which I now love - no more high bills for me!) THey told me that because I only applied to go onto the tarif at the…
Switching from a prepayment meter
Does anyone know the legal position of a tenant wishing to switch from being on a prepayment meter to a direct debit with the gas/leccy company? Before we moved into the house the Landlord had changed the meters due to problems with previous tenants leaving and not paying the electricity bill! We found we're paying more…
Scottish Power Dodgy billing strategy
I informed scottish power that I was having trouble paying a bill because of a change in circumstances. I had an outstanding bill with Scottish Power with £50 remaining to be paid. I then received a phone call requesting a reading. This was apparently to check the reading rather than billing as it has not been physically…
Does anyone have a spreadsheet for gas/elec that they'd like to share?!
I've been reading through the posts on this section and a few people seem to have spreadsheets for their meter readings and consumption. Does anyone have one that they'd like to share?! I'm fine with entering data into a spreadsheet but don't think I'd be able to 'make' my own! Thanks :)
Time to Change Suppliers - Move immediately your price changes
I want to challenge the wisdom of waiting until after a round of price increases has settled down before switching supplier. Typical Terms and Conditions allow you to "freeze" your price at the old level whilst you switch. You maybe allowed up to 15 days to protest the price increase after being notified and then 15 more…
