Equita - What to do now?
Hi all, Apologies if this is posted in the wrong spot. I hope someone can give me some advice – any and all is appreciated. I owed £500 in council tax arrears – it was long overdue, but as most, I tried to bury my head in the sand. So, the debt was eventually passed on to Equita and they slapped me with a £75 compliance…

Sell up and rent - thoughts?
Hi, I’ve just signed up this evening so please be gentle. I’m 46, married and with two children aged 10 and 7. I was an only child, and when my father passed away five years ago I inherited his £200,000 house and around £400,000 in cars and cash. Previous to this I had no savings and no assets, and had just about covered…

Debt to income ratio
Hi:) When working out my debt to income ratio it says on the nationwide website to add up monthly payments to debts then divide this by gross income (before tax? Is that rite?) then times by 100. Is this the correct way to work out debt to income ration? Thanks Lolly

How much should I keep back when clearing debt
Hi all, So my scenario is that, after getting married, having a child, I find myself in a bit of debt (manageable with monthly repayments) and able to put away maybe £300-£400 per month after all expenses and spending money. I want to clear the debt. Despite it not growing (two historic credit cards on 0% which I don't…

Sholud we go down the DMP route?
Hello and Merry Christmas! We posted recently regarding our 80K debt. At the moment, despite the debts being high, we are able to afford the payments, plus an overpayment, without it leaving us short for our essential livings costs. We pay around £300 interest each month, as the debts are not all on 0% deals. My wife has…

A date for your diary
Christmas will be on December 25th in 2019. That’s 52 weeks away, and 52 weeks to save up for it. Now’s the time to reflect on what you spent this year, and start planning where it will come from next year. If it’s going to be a struggle, or even if it might be, then start thinking about where it will be easiest to cut…

What small DFW things will you do w/c 24th December?
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…
