DMP - I’ve messed up and need help

Hi all,
I would first like to just ask that if you are reading this I appreciate your time but please be mindful I am beating myself up massively, I know I have messed up and need help not judgement please.
I entered into a DMP about 12 months ago for the amount of £6,500. My agreed payment was £110 which I kept to until three months ago and I have not made a payment since.
This is the part where I have messed up. My mental health has been really bad and I started gambling a bit to try and get myself out of this terrible debt. This obviously hasn’t helped and I know that I shouldn’t have but I have taken other payday loans and borrowed off family too. I now have 3 extra loans and a store card ( the store card I had previously but for a friend who was supposed to pay this but hasn’t). I wanted to know if I could start again. Is there any way I will be able to start a new dmp to include everything? I am committed to getting out of this I’ve just been so depressed I’ve made things worse.
I just wish there was a way out. And I’m in a dark place right now.
I feel like ending my life on a daily basis and I just won’t a way to come back from this.
I work and do earn decent money but because I have borrowed off family and friends I’ve had to pay them back rather than my other debts to try and not keep the relationships from breaking down.
I need to know if anyone has been here and if there really is a way forward.
I know that you aren’t supposed to borrow while on a plan this is what is scaring me, how do I approach this? Do I need to use another company or will it be rejected anyway? Any help appreciated.
Thankyou,
Missy.

Hi,
Sorry to hear you are feeling so down, and first things first - are you getting the support you need from qualified people? If you don't feel able to do that yet, then please consider speaking with the Samaritans, or a similar organisation who will listen and not judge.
In relation to your debts, is your DMP already being run through one of the (free) services like Stepchange, or is it self managed? If it's the former, talk to them - people do make mistakes, and you will not be the first to have done this. If it's the latter, talk to one of the free services, and they will be able to explore your options with you - and you may not feel quite so alone in dealing with it.
There isn't a debt problem that cannot be solved. The very best of luck to you.

Evening Missymay,
Sorry to hear you're currently in a bad place, most f us on here can in some way comprehend the stress, worry and mistakes you are feeling right now.
However, it can be fixed-there is nothing moneywise that can not be fixed! I can't advise you on the dmp side of things, as this isn't something I am familiar with, but the stress of 'messing up' and 'making things worse' I am familiar with. We all make mistakes and that's how we learn important lessons, the only way to sort this out is to admit you made a mistake-tick that off your list, you've come clean-well done for not burying your head.
Next step, be totally honest with dmp management and your family, as this will be another weight lifted off your shoulders when everything is out in the open; that's when you can begin to fix things.
Please remember debt is ALWAYS fixable one way or another.
Hope you managed to feel abit better about things soon0 -
Hi,
If you don't get the support you need from your DMP provider Christians against poverty might be a good organisation to turn to. (Whatever faith or none that you are). They might be right for you because you sound like you need compassionate support as well as debt guidance. Don't feel you have to share a faith that you don't though - I gather if you politely say the faith side of it is not for you then that's fine.

Hi,
This is not a problem, I’ll say that again, this is not a problem.
Many, many people come on this forum in a similar situation to you, they have debt they were repaying via a DMP, and something went wrong, and as a result, more debt was accrued, the debt will just be added to your existing plan, that’s it, not a problem.
But, the spending must stop, you can get away with this once, but any future relapse may not be tolerated as it will appear as though you are not taking this seriously.
Who is your DMP provider ?

Are you getting help with your gambling addiction? If you are not then please find a local group who can assist you.
I know that you haven’t referred to it as an addiction, but if you are still gambling despite being in trouble then you do need to get help.0
