Monday 26th October - What small DFW things will you do today?
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym . But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…

SOA - worried - please help before the SHTF?
Hi Everyone, Today I added up the totals in my spending diary (Jan - July) to do an SOA. I was confident there would be money to spare that I could use to OP my mortgage and feeling really excited and positive about what I'd find. I was shocked, panicked and gutted to find that I'm actually spending over £600 a month more…

DMP Help
Hi :) I've come to the realisation I need to tackle my debt sensibly, however I'm slightly confused. I put my debt details in on the StepChange website, and it recommended a DMP. But based on my details, it talked about paying £300 a month to pay my debt off in a few years. The thing is, I'm already paying £200 a month now…

Cleaning up credit record
Hi I have a question on credit records and how long it takes for them become cleaner after a DMP. I started a DMP in Oct 2010 and completed it with a full and final settlement offer in Jan 2012. This was because I was given a gift of money that I used to make a settlement offer to my creditors and bought my DMP end date…

Hi I was wondering if anybody can help. I went to check my credit file this morning via Noddle and was concerned to note that Vodafone have done three searches on my credit file this year. It's making me feel a bit paranoid to be honest especially because the reason for the search states is for anti ML purposes!! What is…

can't access credit report
Hi all, I've decided I needed to see my credit report as I need to start getting my life back on track. I first applied via noodle as they are free, however after going through the verification process they said one of the answers I provided were incorrect (I'm fairly sure it wasn't but they currently aren't open for me to…

Avoiding the Congestion Charge PCN
So I received a PCN for not paying the congestion charge in August (I wont go into the details of why it wasn't paid, we'll be here all day). I appealed it, because I simply can't afford an extortionate £65 fine without having to scrape through the month. 2 weeks later, they rejected it, so I called them and explained my…

How did it happen?
How did I become one of those women who knows nothing about the family finances? I used to work, and we had a joint account to pay all the bills from, most of which were in my name until we moved house 10 years ago. Now I can't go out to work (can't leave the house at all more often than not due to anxiety issues) and have…

What to do for the best
Although I realised a couple of weeks back that I now have to do something about my debts I keep going backwards and forwards about whether to do a DMP or go bankrupt. I filled out the advice form with stepchange and the first option given was bankruptcy and the second a DMP which would last a long time (over 10 years)…
