Vodafone has searched my credit file three times this year!

I was wondering if anybody can help.
I went to check my credit file this morning via Noddle and was concerned to note that Vodafone have done three searches on my credit file this year.
It's making me feel a bit paranoid to be honest especially because the reason for the search states is for anti ML purposes!! What is this supposed to mean? I will speak to the company about this but just wondered if anybody can shed some light on why companies do this?
Any advice appreciated. I'm not impressed with Vodafone at all.
