Wednesday 11th September - What small DFW things will you do today?
When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of…

Credit score hammered! How long till its ok?
My wife didn't realise that making multiple applications for 0% cards would hammer her score. She also had 1 late payment in last 6 months. I know it stays on file for 6 years but how long should it take for bet credit to increase from poor to good providing she makes no more apps and pays on time? Should a year do it?

Panicing about payments
Please move this post if it isnt in right place. I am in a real state of panic. I dont know who to ask or turn to. Basically I bought a bed for my new house a year ago, hoping that I would have been able to pay it off. From next month I owe £70 per month until I have paid off £1382. I will really struggle to meet this…

Never thought this would happen to me....help!
I never thought I'd be doing this, but i have nowhere else to turn so here's my story! I'm 28 and work for one of the biggest names in global media (I'm not showing off, merely demonstrating that ANYBoDY can get themselves into a debt nightmare!) My monthly take home is just under 1600 after tax. Outgoings as follows:…

To DMP, or not to DMP, that is (one of) the questions??!
Hi all I posted a full SOA a good while back and it was generally accepted that most costs were screwed down pretty tight and the best option would be an IVA or DMP. There were a few little savings to make so I went away to look at them and in the meantime managed to get a promotion in work so for a little while things…

Things that I have found useful on my DFJ
I am starting to realise little things that really help me with my DFJ and I thought I would share!!!!!! 1) I spend as little as possible for 5 days after payday. Of course I pay my commitments/bills but I try to not withdraw any cash. This was definitely my 'danger zone' in the past and I could easily blow £100 on pay day…

urgent help required in reducing overdraft
hi all, firstly, i would like to thank anyone who helps in advance for your time and effort. I have a planned overdraft of £3,600 with Halifax, I have had this for around a year now and I want it gone. I have just made minimal reductions in the overdraft in that time and barely touched it. I bring in around £1200 per month…

Two Lloyds Overdrafts - Combine?
Hello, Without going into all of my debt issues (around £20k of them), I have had my LBM and am working hard to figure out how to deal with this. Essentially without any overtime payments, I can only afford my bills, leaving me with nothing to feed myself or fuel the car. Luckily I can make a few quid of overtime each…

Desperate need for advice!!
I am in need for desperate advice. I currently owe £52000. I am in this situation because I was an idiot basically. My wife is bi-polar and got us into a lot of debt and before this debt happened I got a loan of £15,000 for our wedding. Basically with all interest etc it has mounted up to £52,000. I have looked into an IVA…

I am debt freeeeeeee!
Lots of years, sweat and tears and I have finally done it. No more debt for me :money::beer::beer: I never did a DMP I managed to catch it before I got to that stage and I could still pay minimums and a little more. I have been snowballing for years.

LBM - Finally. Scared to death
Hiya All, I know some of you good people will recognise me - especially with my numerous questions, questions and more questions. Anyway finally I've had my LBM and contacted Step Change (who have been more than wonderful with me). I'm so ashamed of myself for allowing us to get in such a mess. I owe £39,749 (scary) and it…

Why bother paying debt??
Thought I’d start this thread as a slightly perplexed debt free wannabe! I was chatting to my cousin the other day who was in a similar debt situation to me. My debt was circa £45,000 and his was over £50,000. After mulling over the various options (Bankruptcy, IVA, saving for full and final settlements) I decided on a…

all 0% bar 1 payment
I just wanted to share as I'm feeling quite pleased with myself :) 1 last payment to make on a £25k loan (consolidation of all debt when we got married) and all other debt moved to 0% cards :) Feeling very happy with being able to manage the last chunk of our debt & wanted to share with people who would understand :j

No response to CCA request - Arrow Global
Just after a bit of advice please. I submitted a CCA request to Arrow Global, as they recently appeared on my credit file... By the looks of it they have taken over the debt. I sent in the initial CCA request with the £1.00 fee, to which I received no response. I have since sent in a 2nd letter stating they are in default…

Council Tax
Hello. I'm not sure this is in the right place but it seemed the most relevant forum. Way back in 2008, I shared a flat with a friend. His father rented the pub downstairs, the flat came with the pub. I was out of work at that time and claiming jobseekers. After I moved out, I did continue to claim JSA from that address…

Is there a debt pay off time limit
Hello I guess this is a simple question but I fear the answer will be complex. I have a debt with a collection company and I have been making token payments for some years. Is there an expiry date to this debt, when the debt becomes to old and gets wiped. Not that I'm getting away from my responsibility but I heard someone…
