A spoonful of sugar (or sweetener in my case)
I don’t intend for this to be a negative themed diary (I’m far too cheery for that), but I will start by saying that I’m slightly ashamed to say that this is my third diary and my third LBM. However, this has been a slowly growing LBM that has been flickering away for some 6 months and has finally fully lit the room before…

Batting this curveball in a positive direction...
Well, this is not the life I expected to be facing in my mid 30s. I'd grab yourself a cuppa (or something stronger) if I was you... As the title suggests, life has thrown a massive curveball at me this past year, in the form of an extremely amicable, yet very painful separation from my husband who was, and still is, my…

This is my third attempt to get our debts sorted but this time it's different - I have my husband on board. For the first time ever I got him…

Question & Advice
Dear All, Very nice to find a debt support group! We'll my story is I have somehow managed to build up way too much debt and finally I am reaching the point I can not furnish it further. I've built up a debt of over £60,000 on 5 credit cards and two overdrafts totaling £11,000. So total debt is £71,000 as it stands.…

Rising above turbulent cloud
Dear Diary and MSE Friends, :hello: Have learned too late that thread titles cannot be altered, which leaves yours truly with a dilemma because am really not happy with the 'working title' I stuck at the top of my new diary when composing the introduction. The easiest solution appears to be copying the few posts already…

Third Time Lucky
So, here I am again. My third attempt to get our debts sorted but this time it's different - I have my husband on board. For the first time ever I got him to find all of his paperwork, and we worked out a proper budget. This time he's actually keen to get our debts paid off - the difference in him is amazing! So here's my…

Bec's debt busting year!
I need to get to grips with my debt this year. It has stayed the same for quite a few years with me just maintaining it by paying minimum payments etc and to be honest it is a millstone round my neck. I need to focus on my money and budgeting. I don't have a huge salary as a teaching assistant but my dream is to begin a…

The "time to be a grown up" diary!
Hello! Newbie here... Have been lurking on a few diaries for the last few days since having my LBM during the holidays. A friend pointed me in the direction of the forum and told me to jump in head first! So, background info: I live in SW London in a rented one-bed with my OH and our two cats, am in my late twenties, have…

need to start living within my means
Hi everyone, I've changed this thread to be my diary - as it has all the information on income and debts. Basically I'm aiming to get rid of all my credit card debt in no more than two years, before the 0% promo interest rate ends. Total debt as of right now Jan 4th 2015 is a whooping £7800 and I'm aiming to pay at least…

A family of five
Hi! I am Lynneee and I have been a member on here for a long time. This site has helped me in so many ways over the last 6 or 7 years but after 8 years of being a stay at home mummy to 3 children it is now time to sort our finances out and get back to financial security. A little bit about us - my husband and I are parents…

Flying in Cloud.
Hello Diary the Second, and all MSE Friends, :hello: 2015. A fair bit has changed since yours truly embarked on Flying Solo.* It seems a good opportunity to start a new thread. :) Am not a great one for New Year Resolutions, because mine tend to become revolutions and spirals - therefore not terribly useful - but it's…

Time's they are a'changin'
Hey :) I'm starting this diary for motivation. I moved (partly) to London around 6 months ago to start the most amazing, wonderful job, but it has left me in a little bit of a mess financially. Particularly as I wasn't in the best position before I went! As another new year has turned, and I will be turning 30 in a few…

Debt free by fifty!
Hello to self and anyone else who cares to read, I'm new to posting but have been a long term reader. Over the years I've managed to change my food shopping habits( meal planning and lists), declutter, batch cook, fly clean and buy bargains. It's the last area I have a problem with, I buy too many bargains! It's finally…
