My partner and I are moving in together and want to open a joint account (we will both retain our existing current accounts and will transfer money into the joint account to cover bills etc to ensure financial independence). I'm after some advice on the best bank account to go for. Are there any with deals out there? A lot…

Nationwide need to return my money UPDATE
On 24/12/2021 I made 2 payments to savings accounts. It was the day N/W had a glitch and it appeared to come from a different account number to mine when it reached said savings accounts. Because it wasn't my nominated account, the payments were returned on 24/12/2021 from the savings accounts. After several phone calls to…

Basically my friend owns an aesthetic business and has asked me to start working in the clinic with her. HSBC Switch Offer - Use overdraft for the 1500 transfer out then back in?
Applied for account, transferring Santander account to it. Account open, £2000 overdraft. Transferred £1500 of the overdraft to my First Direct current account opened in 2010 and sent it straight back to HSBC. Will I get the switch offer, or is FD excluded and classed as internal transfer and not new monies. Thanks.

Nationwide Switch Issues
Hi All, I switched to Nationwide at the beginning of December, the switch was successful with no issues. I noticed that no documentation had been sent to me so I called up several times only to be assured it was on its way. By the middle of December with no access to my funds, I called up again seeking answers. Nationwide…

Banks accounts with Savings Jars (to replave IF.com bank account)
Hello. I still have a bank account with Intelligent Finance (IF.com), which as people probably know, is no longer accepting new account holders. IF.com offers unlimited Savings Jars (which receive interest, as with the Current account). A Savings Jar is linked to the Current account, and can be given any name (for…

Why do Santander block access for no apparent reason?
For the umpteenth time I've had access to my account blocked, so I'm in for another lengthy inquisition. Luckily I've completed most but not all of the movements to regular savers etc due today. My Tipton RS proceeds went in today, a couple of long standing DDs taken out. I've made about ten or so payments out, EVERY one…

Nationwide switch offer if not a customer of Nationwide - how do I get the £125??
I have read Martin's trick to get the £125 switch fee if I am not already a Nationwide customer. However, I am slightly confused. I have a Virgin account with two DD which I would normally use as the switching over account. However, I need to open a Nationwide current account first. Once I have done that, do I then switch…

Monese - fraudulent activity on my account and very little help from them so far
Yesterday I was woken up to repeated alerts from my Monese account on my phone. Turned out there had been multiple purchases using my monese card in Jakarta of all places. About £60 pounds worth of transactions, all in all. Anyway, card cancelled but, after talking to Monese, it turns out I have to do all the chasing to…

Opening a joint account, and which one
Hi there - sorry for some rookie questions, but my partner & I are wanting to open a joint account, and we're a bit confused about how these work versus individual current accounts. We want... * to keep our own personal current accounts (I'm with HSBC, my partner is with Santander; we both have a Monzo account). * to have…

Santander Switch - Do I need to setup 2 new direct debits?
Hi I've recently switched to Santander for the £130 bonus and I've noticed it states one of the criteria is to set up 2 direct debits. This differs from the usual bank switch requirement of switching 2 direct debits. I've already switched 2 direct debits, so will this mean I qualify for the bonus? Or do I have to set up 2…

Think Money closed my account for no reason I am aware of and need help
I have held an account with Think Money for almost two years and in November 2021, they froze my account for two weeks, which left me with no access to funds. When they first contacted me, they had stopped a transfer I was trying to make of £940 to send to a friend and they wanted to check I wasn't the victim of an…
